Wearables are becoming more popular every day. Walking down the street you can see a lot of people wearing a smartwatch.
PWC is a global company that is working on wearables
As their site states, “We help resolve complex issues and identify opportunities.”
They do research for a plethora of topics, and in the case of wearables, the quick advancement in adoption is outstanding.
In 2014, both the apple watch and fit bit hadn’t been released. Fast forward to 2016 and every major tech brand had already released their first mainstream wearable
There were many findings in these studies, amongst those findings were the reasons we are using wearables, what people want in future products and why early adopters are growing exponentially.
What are people wearing?
The biggest motivator to buy wearables currently is fitness. People love to know how many calories they burn and challenge themselves.
The largest category of wearables is fitness bands, taking 45% of the whole market. Smartwatches total 27%, and to the surprise of many, smart glasses 15%, Smart clothing is 12% of the market, but in two years I imagine this number will jump considerably.
